This.....her.
How did she happen? How did we ever get ourselves together enough to get her?
International adoption is a maze of paperwork and processes. It is an almost constant struggle of filling out forms, obtaining records, getting reference letters, being evaluated....it is just a mess of stuff....piles and folders and binders of STUFF. It is a process...carefully choreographed steps in an incredibly defined process. It takes effort. You gotta do stuff! And, you gotta do it in order and on time. If you don't put forth the effort, the adoption just.ain't.gonna happen. Period. Amen.
So, back to my point....how did she happen? Happen for us? Come to us? I mean, seriously, we are (by definition)...Mr. and Mrs. Most Unorganized, Biggest Procrastinating, Never Get ANYTHING Done. (I'm serious...we should really change our names!!)
How did we do all that? It amazes me still.
Perhaps, the fact that we had to follow all those rules and complete all that paperwork (and spend lots and lots of money), made us a little too tired to think about the final step. Or perhaps, we just had the girl and didn't care anymore. Whatever the reason, we just haven't gotten around to wrapping this little thing up in a bow and finishing it off....
Until today...
a full three year later, we FINALLY begin the last step!
Finally, Mr. and Mrs. Most Unorganized, Biggest Procrastinating, Never Get ANYTHING Done....completed this adoption.
And yes, we realize this is a six-month step for you normal folk, but we're overachievers....in our own nonperforming way.
